Our partner in Uzbekistan is
About
A Child, which waives all agency fees to assist with adoptions of children with
special needs.
Uzbekistan is a country in Central
Asia which is an ex-Soviet State. It is bordered by such countries as
Kazakhstan and Afghanistan. Only 5 adoptions per year have occurred from
Uzbekistan, none with special needs. The only official language,
Uzbek, is a
Turkic language, but
Russian
continues to be widely used, a holdover from Soviet rule. The people are
primarily of Roma/Turkish/Gypsy/Asian heritage, but there are many Caucasian
children available as well. Many Russians escaped to the Uzbek
region after World War II, so there are a significant number of Caucasian,
Russian families living there. It is a very ethnically diverse country.
Just as in many Eastern European
countries, few people can understand why anyone would want to adopt a child with
Down syndrome or any other disability. They are sent to mental
institutions at the age of 4 just like in Ukraine and Russia. We have
another historical opportunity to change the future of so many children with
Down syndrome there, and to plant a seed of love, light, and truth into the
hearts of the care givers and orphanage directors. We do this one
orphanage at a time through one adoption at a time. This is also a
primarily Islamic nation, so your adoption of a child out of this country is
saving a soul for Christ.
The adoption program in Uzbekistan
is VERY EASY. Only one parent must travel for a total of 5 days
in-country, but because of tensions in the region, an
escort is readily available and recommended. Your total cost for
this program, including INS, home study, country fee, and escort travel, is
under $19,000. Infants with Down syndrome are currently available
for international adoption! This program works the
same as in Latvia and Hungary....families would complete a no-obligation,
no-cost family profile, which would be translated and sent to the Uzbek
government to show interest. Please contact

If you are unable to adopt at this
time, but would like to make a donation to help us grow our program in
Uzbekistan, you have two options. You can donate to the
General Grant
Fund, where your donation would be saved for the first family who commits to
adopt a child with DS out of Uzbekistan, or you can contribute to the
Raising
Awareness Fund, which will help us purchase gifts for the children
living in the special needs orphanages. This show of support and love on
behalf of Reece's Rainbow will us build our relationship with the orphanage
directors, and to gain their trust and openness in sharing their children with
Down syndrome with us for posting.
Maximize your
donation by including the extra cost of
Paypal's fees!
