  • NOW POSSIBLE TO ADOPT MORE THAN ONE UNRELATED CHILD WITH SPECIAL NEEDS!  ;)

China is one of the most restrictive programs in operation today.   They are quite particular about who they feel qualifies to parent a child of Chinese heritage (as you can see from the requirements listed above).  However, with their new database of waiting children with special needs, we are so glad to see a recognition of the needs of those kids and that they see a desire from American families to adopt them.

We have several agency partners advocating for the children in China.  Their contact info is listed in the profiles below.   Adopting a child through the Waiting Child Program takes a special family with extra determination, commitment, and love to give.   However, as our references would love to tell you, adopting a special needs or older child is a source of joy beyond description.

Garrett

Boy, Born October 29, 2005
China

From a missionary who visited with him in August 2010:   Garrett was found abandoned at the age of 9 months.  He is medically healthy but very small for his age.  He lives in a VERY poor orphanage that is rife with neglect and lack of resources to properly care for the children with special needs living here.  They are in dire need of humanitarian support. Those who are bedridden especially suffer here, and urgently need adoptive families.  We are desperately seeking a family to give Garrett the live he deserves! "

Andrew

Boy, Born April 2004
China
This boy, born 4/2004 has Down syndrome.   He was told if he wanted to go to America he needed to learn English so he learned “thank you” and “bye bye.”   He can do many things for himself including washing his face and tidying up the toys. He likes to play games. He manipulated the toys and building pieces very well.   He likes blocks and little cars. He is good at taking the lead in games and likes to teach other children the games.    If two kids are fighting over a toy he will stop them and give each child a toy so they won’t fight.   He likes to watch a local new channel and talk shows. When the doctor was passing out treats to everyone he told the other children  “to say thank you.”   He is very aware of his environment.   When a baby spit up no one helped quickly enough for him so he went and got a tissue and wiped the baby’s face.   The staff said he was very shy but was away from his foster home for two weeks.   He was one of the dancers in the program and didn’t seem too shy. He has no heart issues.

Tara

Girl, Born September 30, 2002

She is extroverted and can express her feelings very well. When she is happy she will greet you warmly and embrace you enthusiastically; if she thinks that she was treated wrongly she will make sharp sound and cry loudly to blow off her discontent. She has made great physical progress and can go up and down stairs and loves to dance around!

 Trina

Girl, Born November 1, 2007

China
Special need: Down syndrome (no heart issues)
Description:   When she first entered the orphanage, she was about eight months old.  Normally she is very sweet and doesn’t cry often.  She lives happily in her foster home where the family really takes good care of her.  She has become chubby and her little cheeks became round.  She is a healthy child and doesn’t really fall ill.  Sometimes when there is no one keeping her company while she plays, she will sit and sing to herself and play by herself.  She has an active personality, and she is lively and full of energy.  She also likes to joke with others.  Once she was having her picture taken and was not being cooperative; when the camera lens was pointed at her, she would turn her face away.  When the camera was repositioned, she would turn her head back.  This is how she jokes with you.  Please consider making her part of your family

Harry

Boy, Born May 2005

Harry is a darling, HEALTHY little boy who is still waiting for his forever family.   Adoptions of children with Down syndrome from China are very rare.  Reece's Rainbow is honored to partner with several agencies who can help you adopt these beautiful children from this beautiful country.

As an infant, Harry loved to be cuddled.   He fought off the walking, but his caregivers and therapists are working hard with him to encourage him to stand on his own.   He is still not walking yet, but with a loving, supportive family and therapy, Harry will be running circles around you in no time!

Please give Harry a chance to grow up with a loving family!
