 Angel Girls
Everyone loves a precious little girl they can dress up in frilly dresses and hair bows. They capture the hearts of every daddy in the world! Here are some who are waiting for their family at the end of Reece's Rainbow. Their special needs include such things as arthrogryposis, CP, spina bifida, FAS (Fetal Alcohol Syndrome), Autism, and other diagnoses.
Children with HIV can be found HERE
Unlike several of our other "group" grant funds which are made for the first child adopted from that page, each of these "Other Angels" does still retain their own grant account. PLEASE designate which child you are sponsoring in your Paypal donation.
***If you should have trouble with this Paypal link, please log in to your own Paypal account, click on "send money" to reecesrainbow@yahoo.com, and just designate the child/family/fund you are hoping to give for. It will come through fine this way ***

Girl, DOB: April 12, 2006
Main diagnosis: Mental delays; hypotrophy (physical delays)
Sadie is physically healthy. She can walk and does not have any medical needs at this time. She is currently being given medications in an attempt to improve her cognition. She adapts easily, is calm and shows interest in her environment. She enjoys attention from care givers and seeks physical contact from familiar adults. Her fine motor skills are delayed. She does not show much interest in toys and has difficulties manipulating them. She frequently has stereotypical movements and does not often wish to engage. The psychologist report indicates that Sadie’s mental delays could be improved in a family environment.

Mila (9)
Girl, Born July 5, 2006
FAS and cleft palate
SIGNIFICANT RISK, PLEASE ADOPT ME SOON!!
Look at this darling little cupie doll! Mila was born with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, and several complications from that exposure. Her medical records indicate cleft palate, oval window (heart condition), strabismus, and microcephaly (all common symptoms of this condition). But she is also friendly and happy, loves attention, and desperately needs a loving family.
From an adoptive family who visited with her in August 2010: "She was in a group with two other children. The two little boys were in the playpen. She was free to wander but she stayed in the little area for her group. When she would get a little too close to us, her caregiver would say something quietly and she would turn around and return to her group. I was impressed with her ability to follow instructions."
"The afternoon before, I spied her playing and babbling by herself in a shady spot by the front drive. I did not see more than a few children with her. I have seen her playing with others on other days though. Truthfully, there are children here who are probably not going to fit in with a typical family. I don't see Mila as one of those children. She is probably the height of a three year old but wirey, thin, skinny!"
If you are unfamiliar with FAS, please spend some time researching this condition. Just as with Down syndrome, FAS and FAE have a wide variation of effects on each child, both medically, physically, and cognitively. This is typically dependent on how long during the pregnancy the mother consumed alcohol, and of course, how much. There is no way to know this ahead of time.
Regrettably, this orphanage is one of the poorer ones, with very little outside aid and very little hope. All of the children are tiny and undernourished. These children are immediately transferred at 4, and have little chance of survival where they are sent. All of our waiting children need families, but these have a critical need. Please consider one of these children soon!!

Despite all of these odds stacked against her, she is an orphanage favorite and is well loved. She will really blossom in a loving family, and learning to use her other senses will open up the world around her.
Wendy is already 4 now, and is facing the institution soon. She needs a family right away!

Leila
Girl, DOB: January 26, 2005 Main diagnosis: Spastic Cerebral Palsy
What a pretty girl! Leila has been outstanding at school. She has learned simple phrases, colors, and to do things on her own by 3 years of age. She is in a group foster home setting and has been taught many tasks like dressing herself, beading and language. When she was 4 was even more beautiful than before, can communicate with friends with clear language, and loved speaking and laughing with friends. She can express some things that she wants to do. She can hold her feet together and do it well. Listen carefully in school and quick response to teacher’s question, very accurately. She learned to recognize a few ling, simple graphics, and a variety of animals. Also she learned a few children's songs. She is praised by her teachers. They hope she will grow healthily under people’s love in the future.

Arlene
Girl, DOB: June 2, 2006 Main diagnosis: Spastic Cerebral Palsy
Arlene is diagnosed with CP in her lower limbs. She is receiving physical therapy daily and her orthopedic doctor has suggested surgery on her feet. She can pull to a stand in her crib and we do have several photos of her feet and legs. In addition to her physical disability, Arlene is also developmentally delayed. She does not speak, but can vocalize random syllables. She responds to her name and follows very simple verbal directions. She enjoys physical contact with adults and recognizes those that are familiar to her. She is very strong and is constantly moving or rocking in her crib. She has some sensory issues too. In addition to the rocking and repetitive movements, she does not yet eat solid foods. She is still eating through a bottle. Staff is attempting to feed her with a spoon, but she rejects the food and if it’s placed in her mouth, she will vomit it up. Many additional photos are available.
From a staff member who met Arlene in April 2010: Arlene is a very cute and active little girl. Because of her CP, she spends a great deal of time in a crib and she is very active…rocking to move the crib, holding on to the side and walking around, etc. We put her on the ground and she is QUICK. She can move around independently. She clearly has some sensory issues, but it is hard to tell how much of that is simply a result of her environment. She will need a great deal of attention and support from her adoptive family. |
Gabriella #12-3

She currently takes medication at the recommendation of the neurologist. A multi-disciplinarian team works with the child in all aspects of her development.

SIGNIFICANT RISK, PLEASE ADOPT ME SOON!!
Eugene is really a GIRL! After all this time, we have learned he is a SHE. Dark brown hair and blue-green eyes. She has severe CP, but has recently started walking! Jewell is the victim of parental physical abuse, and suffers from post-traumatic brain injury, which has further complicated her delays and struggles. She does have a 6 year old sister with mild delays whom she can be adopted with or by herself.

Hannah (24)
Girl, Born September 7, 2008
Hannah is a darling almsot 2 year old girl who needs a family. This is NOT hydrocephaly, she was born with deformed cranial bones. Hannah is very smart, she is nearly walking, and has striking blue eyes and a smile to warm your heart! She has severe dermatitis, from what they are not sure. She was also born without a rectum, and presumably uses a colostomy bag at this time. She will definitely need to be seen by a gastroenterologist once home.
From her medical records: absence of rectum, cranial bones deformity, multiple development pathologies, severe dermatitis, delay of development but she is very smart and active
From an adoptive family who visited with her in June 2010: " Hannah is a precious little angel that despite her challenges, is unbelievably full of life. She loves her walker, especially moving "lightening fast" down the hallway, to the playroom, whenever she has the chance. She is a little spit fire...who has a mind of her own;) We took her pacifier (which she loves) out of her mouth to snap a few pictures and she made herself perfectly clear that she wanted it back:) She is developing very well and walks by holding on to her caretakers finger. She can hold a ball/toy and is very social little girl. She happily perked and stood up to her feet (while in her walker) when I bent down and spoke to her. When my camera flashed, she threw her little hands up to her face and smiled. She is an absolute favorite of her caretakers and the Orphanage Director. The "blue" on her skin is an anteseptic that is applied as a result of her extreme skin allergy. Given the chance, this little one will grow by leaps and bounds. She sure stole my heart:) "

Elena is a beautiful little girl born with CP. She has blonde hair and blue eyes, and a gorgeous smile and glow about her. She struggles the most with her left-side limbs, is considered significantly delayed, and also has partial atrophy of the visual nerves.
Elena is still a favorite of the orphanage and will SO benefit from having a loving family encourage and cherish her! Even being visually impaired, she deserves the opportunity to "see" her world outside the four walls of this orphanage and her crib!

Vika (19)
Girl, Born June 14, 2006
Vika says "I have been waiting long enough, thank you very much"! Vika has brown hair and beautiful hazel eyes! She is diagnosed with cerebral palsy, and she does have some strabismus that could be corrceted with surgery. She is able to walk on her own. She is able to feed herself, sit upright, and engage with the other children. She is doing well and will be so blessed to find a family!
From an adoptive family who visited with her in June 2010: "I did want to let you know that we met her. She was in the group with Nina and Varvara. She is precious. I know that you just recently got updates on all the kiddos at 19, but Vika can walk. She appeared that she just learned how to walk, but she was walking all over the place. We called her twinkle toes, because we didn't know her name and she walked on her tip toes. She is very out going and loves people. Every time we would visit the girls, she would be the first to come up to us. She loves to dance. Noah would take her by the hands and twirl her around. She is very special to us. She does need a family that can give her special attention. I think with the love of a family and some one-on-one attention, she will blossom. I hope that this little bit of info will help a family that is leaning towards adopting Vika. She has so much love to give and she will thrive from the love of a family of her own. "

Julia (3)
Girl, Born early 2008
Julia is another sweet little girl stuck in a "laying room". She has sandy brown hair and big brown eyes, and so longs to have a life outside the 4 walls of this crib. Her medical records indicate CP, strabismus, and something called Cockayne Syndrome. CS is a premature ageing disorder that leads to a shortened life expectancy. There are varying degrees of this syndrome and there are types I, II and III.
Julia is a beautiful little girl, and if she has to pass early, it should not be in the dark confines of a crib, alone and with no one to care whether she lives or dies. Adopting Julia would be a true leap of faith, and a gift to her, just as it was for Chrissie Patterson. My prayers for this little girl!!

Olga (19)
Girl, Born July 12, 2008
So glad to see Olga is finally cleared for adoption. Olga has brown hair and beautiful brown eyes. She is officially diagnosed with FAS (fetal alcohol syndrome), but she is doing very well! She is walking, has some words, and is ready for her forever family to come for her.
Olga does have a heart condition as well, from her medical records: " interventricular partitioning".
There is no way to know this ahead of time

Lorena (25)
Girl, Born November, 2005
This beautiful, brown haired, blue eyed angel was born with a lot of strikes stacked against her. That doesn't mean she doesn't deserve a voice or a chance to have a family who loves her and can help her be all she is able!
From her medical records: CEREBRAL PALSY. Inborn defect of brain development (hypoplasia of right hemisphere, cerebellum, mosaic body). Syndrome of spastic tetraparesis; stage of motion defect. Secondary microcephaly. Hip dysplasia. Secondary miocardiopathy. Mental delay. Strabismus.
Lorena is facing the mental institution soon, and will remain bedridden for life if she is not adopted. I have $20 in my grant fund towards the cost of my adoption! |
Irina (17)
Girl, Born March 5, 2005
Irina is a beautiful girl with dark hair and big dark eyes. She has a cleft palate. She is cognitively delayed, likely as a result of FAS. She is a precious and happy little girl, and will do great in a family. She can be *assertive* at times, but responds very well to individual attention and will really thrive as the "baby". She is facing the institution soon, and she needs a family quickly!

Fetal Alcohol Syndrome
This darling little girl is 3 years old now. She is walking and active, and is waiting for her "forever family". She was born with FAS, and has many of the facial features common to this condition. Talia is actually diagnosed with FAS, so there must be documentation of consumption during pregnancy in the records.
If you are unfamiliar with FAS, please spend some time researching this condition. Masha (9)
Girl, Born January 10, 2007
Photo dated Feb 2010. This beautiful muffin.....Masha struggles with many symptoms of FAS (fetal alcohol syndrome).
From her medical records: Diagnosis: mother had syphilis and was alcohol addict, congenital malformation of nervous system, encephalitis, secondary hydrocephaly, mental disorders as a result of organic affection of brain, chronic pyelonephritis, congenital malformation of genital system - reflex uropathy, crossed eyes. She HAS been tested for syphilis and is NEGATIVE, even though her mother was carrying at the time of her birth. This little one has so much potential, even though her records make her sound like she's in a vegetative state (which she clearly isn't!) My goodness, what a loving family can do for her, she will truly blossom!
Her strabismus has gotten worse, and at 3 she is still not walking. Masha needs a family to help her be all she can be!
If you are unfamiliar with FAS, please spend some time researching this condition. Tori (9)
Girl, Born October 14, 2005
CP and Spinal Hernia
SIGNIFICANT RISK, PLEASE ADOPT ME SOON!!
This little angel can just light up a room with her smile and her giggle. She is constantly happy, very alert and playful, and is an orphanage favorite. We are waiting for some new photos of her, but she is registered and available to be adopted now! She has had surgery for her spinal hernia (not spina bifida), but it was unsuccessful in her country. She is not able to pull up or stand/walk on her own. We hope she would have much better chances of correction here in the US, but we will not have any x-rays or other records available prior to your trip to share with a doctor for review. She has decompensated hydrocephaly as well.
Children from this orphanage are sent to the institution promptly on their birth date, so we are working hard to prevent that for this little sunshine. She will be bedridden for her short life if she is transferred. Please consider rescuing Miss Tori!
UPDATE: Tori has already been transferred to the institution. It is imperative she be rescued right away.

Sarah is a pretty little girl with bright blue eyes and a giant, winning smile! She has global cognitive and physical delays, and was born to a mother who was also cognitively delayed. She is medically healthy and doing well with physical therapy. FULL MEDICAL RECORDS AVAILABLE.
From a staff member who met Sarah in April 2010: Sarah was smiling and clearly interested in the activity going on around her. She was curious about the people taking her photo. Sarah does have cognitive delays. There is no known cause for the delays and it is hard to say how much of her delays are environmental. She made eye contact, smiled and seemed to be a very curious little girl. She is not ambulatory but can stand support her weight when she’s on her feet. Her lower body gave the appearance of a child with CP. However, she does not have a medical diagnosis of CP at this time.
Additional photos and video clips of Sarah are available. |

Tatyanna (11)
Girl, Born March 22, 2007
SIGNIFICANT RISK, PLEASE ADOPT ME SOON !!
Another blonde haired, blue eyed beauty! She was born with the effects of FAS, and bears many of the facial characteristics of this. She also has epilepsy, and is treated with medication for the frequent daily tremors that she has. She is delayed with her physical abilities, but will so benefit from improved medication and monitoring of her epilepsy, and a loving family to encourage her!
It is also possible that Tatyanna has Williams Syndrome, but this is not documented. We have had several families of children with WS contact us suggesting it may be WS instead.
More photos available, please inquire.

Girl, Born September 8, 2006
SIGNIFICANT RISK, PLEASE ADOPT ME SOON!!
This precious little girl is mostly blind. She has obvious cataracts and strabismus. Her medical records indicate that she is blind with optic atrophy. She has tetraparesis (limb weakness), and this is caused by diagnosed CP. A family who visited with her recently tells us she is quite low functioning right now, but goodness, how she would blossom in al oving family who could really help her overcome her lack of vision!
Michelle will be transferred to a mental institution and will likely remain bedridden for life if she is not adopted. Hope someone will consider being her "forever family"!

Chloe (1sid, region 6)
Girl, Born September 2008
Russia
This is another beautiful child, this time a girl, also in Russia, whom we believe has Saethre-Chotzen Syndrome. (like OWEN) Chloe is not quite a year old yet, and does not seem to be as severe as Owen, but would benefit from life-saving surgery and therapies to help her if she could be adopted soon! There will never be a place for her in her home country, and she will likely not have access to any surgeries to help improve her cranio-facial condition.

Tammy (13)
Girl, Born February 6, 2008
Super cute muffin with blonde hair and green eyes!
From her medical records: umbilical hernia, hiatus of the hard palate, open oval window, supplementary chord of the left ventricle, anemia. Although it is not documented and not 100% for certain, Tammy does have some facial characteristics of FAS (Fetal Alcohol Syndrome). This is just a cautionary disclosure, so families are prepared and open to the challenges of FAS in the event this is the case. Her hard palate and heart complications are also common symptoms of the effects of prenatal alcohol use.
If you are unfamiliar with FAS, please spend some time researching this condition. Just as with Down syndrome, FAS and FAE have a wide variation of effects on each child, both medically, physically, and cognitively.
